BE THANKFUL { Author Unknown}

Be thankful that you don't already have everything you desire, If you did, what would there be to look forward to? Be thankful when you don't know something For it gives you the opportunity to learn. Be thankful for the difficult times. During those times you grow. Be thankful for your limitations Because they give you opportunities for improvement. Be thankful for each new challenge Because it will build your strength and character. Be thankful for your mistakes They will teach you valuable lessons. Be thankful when you're tired and weary Because it means you've made a difference. It is easy to be thankful for the good things. A life of rich fulfillment comes to those who are also thankful for the setbacks. GRATITUDE can turn a negative into a positive. Find a way to be thankful for your troubles and they can become your blessing.

Can't by Edgar A. Guest

Can't is the worst word that's written or spoken; Doing more harm here than slander and lies; On it is many a strong spirit broken, And with it many a good purpose dies. It springs from the lips of the thoughtless each morning And robs us of courage we need through the day:It rings in our ears like a timely sent warningAnd laughs when we falter and fall by the way. Can't is the father of feeble endeavor,The parent of terror and halfhearted work;It weakens the efforts of artisans clever, And makes of the toiler an indolent shirk. It poisons the soul of the man with a vision, It stifles in infancy many a plan; It greets honest toiling with open derisionAnd mocks at the hopes and the dreams of a man. Can't is a word none should speak without blushing; To utter it should be a symbol of shame; Ambition and courage it daily is crushing; It blights a man's purpose and shortens his aim. Despise it with all of your hatred of error;Refuse it the lodgment it seeks in your brain; Arm against it as a creature of terror, And all that you dream of you someday shall gain. Can't is the word that is for to ambition, An enemy ambushed to shatter your will; Its prey is forever the man with a missionAnd bows but to courage and patience and skill. Hate it, with hatred that's deep and undying, For once it is welcomed 'twill break any man; Whatever the goal you are seeking, keep tryingand answer this demon by saying: "I can."

I'VE LEARNT---IMPORTANT LESSONS IN LIFE

* I've learned that, no matter what happens, how bad it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow. * I've learned that you can tell a lot about a person by the way he/she handles four things: a rainy day, the elderly, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights. * I've learned that, regardless of your relationship with your parents, you'll miss them when they're gone from your life. * I've learned that making a "living" is not the same thing as making a "life..." *I've learned that life sometimes gives you a s second chance. * I've learned that you shouldn't go through life with a catcher's mitt on both hands. You need to be able to throw something back. * I've learned that if you pursue happiness, it will elude you. But if you focus on your family, your friends, the needs of others, your work and doing the very best you can, happiness will find you. * I've learned that whenever I decide something with an open heart, I usually make the right decision. * I've learned that even when I have pains, I don't have to be one. * I've learned that every day, you should reach out and touch someone. * People love that human touch -- holding hands, a warm hug, or just a friendly pat on the back. * I've learned that I still have a lot to learn!

TAKE TIME FOR YOURSELF: You Deserve It!

Summer is over. But it seems like you are always doing something other than relaxing and having fun. This was the year you were going to spend time doing the outdoor activities that you love while the weather is nice and you were going to devote more time to your kids while they were out of school. Unfortunately it is not working out that way after all. However, you can get more time for yourself before it is too late.

• Prioritize your life. If you have something that needs done that day and you are not looking forward to it; get it done first. Mark the things that you are dreading off of your to do list first. This will free up the rest of the day for things you want to do and give you a great sense of accomplishment.

• Schedule your time a week in advance. Mark your calendar with everything that you need to do for the week; work, appointments and schedule in the time for yourself. Some people who specialize in time management suggest that you color code each type of entry into your calendar. Highlight appointments, work, family time and time for yourself in different colors. This will give you a visual of how much time you spend on your tasks.

Learn to say no to obligations that you have no desire to fulfill. If you do not want to be on every committee or you do not want to go on a golfing trip for work then just say no. People waste countless hours of their lives because they are afraid to say no to an invitation. The best way to do this is to thank the person for the invitation and say that you have prior commitments.

* Last but not the least: Remember the “me” time as an appointment that is just as important as the other appointments.

LET ME GIVE
I do not know how long I'll live ;
But while I live, Lord, let me give ;
Some comfort to someone in need ;
By smile or nod, kind word or deed.
And let me do what ever I can
To ease things for my fellow man.
I want naught but to do my part
To "lift" a tired or weary heart.
To change folks' frowns to smiles again.
Then I will not have lived in vain
And I'll not care how long I'll live
If I can give ... and give ... and give.
REMEMBER:What goes around, comes around

SEASONS PRAYERS

Dancing With God
When I meditated on the word Guidance,
I kept seeing "dance" at the end of the word.
I remember reading that doing God's will is a lot like dancing.
When two people try to lead, nothing feels right.
The movement doesn't flow with the music,
and everything is quite uncomfortable and jerky.
When one person realizes that, and lets the other lead,
both bodies begin to flow with the music.
One gives gentle cues, perhaps with a nudge to the back
or by pressing Lightly in one direction or another.
It's as if two become one body, moving beautifully.
The dance takes surrender, willingness, and attentiveness from one person
and gentle guidance and skill from the other.
My eyes drew back to the word Guidance.
When I saw "G: I thought of God, followed by "u" and "i".
"God, "u" and "i" dance." God, you, and I dance.
As I lowered my head, I became willing to trust
that I would get guidance about my life.
Once again, I became willing to let God lead.
My prayer for you today is that God's blessings
and mercies be upon you on this day and everyday.
May you abide in God as God abides in you.
Dance together with God, trusting God to lead
and to guide you through each season of your life.
please share this message with someone else,
for prayer is one of the best gifts we can receive.

You know, time has a way of moving quickly and catching you unaware of the passing years. It seems just yesterday that I was young, just married and embarking on my new life with my mate. And yet in a way, it seems like eons ago, and I wonder where all the years went. I know that I lived them all... And I have glimpses of how it was back then and of all my hopes and dreams... But here it is...the winter or rather the golden years of my life, and it catches me by surprise... How did I get here so fast? Where did the years go and where did my babies go? And where did my youth go? But here it is...hubby retired, really getting gray...but still in great shape... but I see the great change...Change from the one I married who was young and vibrant... but like me, his age is beginning to show and we are now those older folks that we used to see and never thought we'd be. And so, now I enter into this new season of my life unprepared for all the little aches and pains and the lessening of ability to go and do things I enjoyed doing in the prime years of my life. But at least I know,This I know, that when it's over...its over....Yes, I have regrets .There are things I wish I hadn't done ,,,,,things I should have done. But indeed, there are many things I'm happy to have done Its all in a lifetime.. a part of a bigger picture So,let me remind you, life goes by quickly. So, whatever you would like to accomplish in your life please do it before it's too late! You have no given promise that you will see all the seasons of your life...so, live for good today and say all the things that you want to your loved ones to remember... "Life is a gift to you. The way you live your life is your gift to those who came after. Make it a fantastic one." LIVE IT WELL!! ! ~

My Mom-------------My Prayers---------My Daddy

My Mom:
"The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother, never. A mother is something absolutely new."
"The best years of your life are the ones in which you decide your problems are your own. You do not blame them on your mother, the ecology, or the president. You realize that you control your own destiny."
Mother's Prayers:
"I remember my mother's prayers and they have always followed me. They have clung to me all my life." "Mother love is the fuel that enables a normal human being to do the impossible."
My Daddy:
"How pleasant it is for a father to sit at his child's board. It is like an aged man reclining under the shadow of an oak which he has planted."
"Father in Heaven! When the thought of thee wakes in our hearts, let it not awaken like a frightened bird that flies about in dismay, but like a child waking from its sleep with a heavenly smile."

TO OUR SONS---A TRIBUTE

You were born out of ecstasy

You were the epitome of creation

Your parents were bonded for life

With love that lasts;

Your childish, winning ways

Carved a special niche in our hearts.

Our work and pleasures

Our hopes and dreams

Nay, our entire lives

All revolved around you.

Our horizons widened

As our dreams soared!

We yearned to give you

Only the BEST

We sought to teach you

Significant lessons in life

An appreciation of beauty

In the simplest of things.

We ignited in you

Love of books, music and nature;

We shared with you

Laughter and tears,joys and sorrows

We enjoyed the warmth of your closeness

Just being there with you

And being there for you

We loved you for what you were

Not for what you'd become. Today, you've blossomed into

Fine young men;

Men, we are proud to call 'Our Sons'

For you have toiled hard and relentlessly

To be active, resourceful

And contributing adults.

Today, you, our two shining stars

Have evolved into our guiding stars;

Today, you've gifted us

With joys innumerable

With love, undaunted

With respect undiminished

And memories, unforgettable.

Today, our spontaneous, little sacrifices

Have reaped rich and great rewards.

For this, and all God's bounty

We thank the Lord

For having bestowed on us Sons like the two of you.

TIMELESS MOMENTS

WHAT IS A LEGACY?

Well, a legacy is just not something you leave behind after you die
In fact, it is something you build each day while you live.
Joy is the start of it;
Sharing is a part of it;
Love is the heart of it;
A legacy of love and dreams passed on-----
Some cherished moments in time
TIMELESS MOMENTS.

LET DREAMS MANIFEST YOUR HEART'S DESIRE

Dear Children of God,

Go into the world prepared for play

As a child of God, you have teachers

And angels to help you.

Laugh, play and create; stay focussed and true.

Believe in yourself with your entire heart and soul.

Imagine your success as if already happened.

Listen for guidance and be flexible as you go along

Work with your heart, with love and enthusiasm;

Be patient and allow God to work the miracle

Use your thoughts and words

As building blocks for your success

And finally become completely one with your dreams

In daring to live your dreams

You light the way for yourself and others

Dear Children, may all your dreams come true!

THE 7-UPS IN LIFE

WAKE UP-----begin by deciding to have a good day.

DRESS UP------best way is to put on a smile.

STAND UP-------for what you believe in.

LOOK UP----you are important, keep yourself centered.

SHUT UP---learn to listen more and say only nice things.

REACH UP---for something higher each day.

LIFT UP--your prayers and trust in HIM with all your heart.

THE HEART OF EDUCATION IS THE EDUCATION OF THE HEART by Harvey MacKay " Now that the kids are back in school, this is a great time to talk about mentors. Most studies will tell you that successful and happy people give credit for their success in the business world to the role models they encountered as youth.Where do you find these people? At home? Sure, if we're lucky. Teachers have a tremendous impact on students' lives. These role models help students set the direction of their lives. They've invested a lifetime in understanding what makes students tick." As a mother, an experienced teacher and an Educator/ Counsellor, I can simply reiterate and say how very true/enlightening the above statement is. It is the teachers who mold the minds and hearts of children. We as parents, must take time to appreciate them for the good work they are doing at this impressionable stage of our children's lives. On the other hand, this should also serve as an eye-opener for Teachers to master the art of teaching with genuine interest and commitment ---so that they can make a significant contribution to our children's lives. We must all realize that it is these children who will be the citizens of tomorrow. It is these children who could be the stalwarts of our Nation. gabby
